Exhibition shows more than 100 nativity scenes in Rome

The Nativity Scene has its origins with St. Francis. Francis introduced the idea of the creche in Greccio in the year 1223. So, this is very much a Franciscan tradition.

Note: There is a group, here in North America, called the Friends of the Creche. They are dedicated to furthering the tradition of the creche. Friends of the Creche is a nonsectarian, nonpolitical, and nonprofit organization for those who collect, exhibit, study, create, or simply treasure Christmas Nativity scenes.

Check out their website at: http://friendsofthecreche.org/index.html
